TDS alumni dancer Miss Blair Vandenhuevel recently came in to the studio to talk to the senior company members about working in the entertainment business. Miss Blair began her dance career at The Dance Shoppe back in 1994 at the young age of 3. Yes that is right she was one of the first students of TDS and 20 years later still calls TDS her family and home.
Miss Vandenhuevel was a very active member of the TDS competitive dance team and won many awards nationally and internationally. She graduated from Bishop Reading High school in Milton and continued her higher education at George Brown College in Toronto for dance. After finishing her 3 years at George Brown Miss Blair auditioned for Carnival Cruise Lines and she has been dancing on the water ever since. Miss Blair was happy to come in and share her experience and help inform the up and coming performers about the ins and outs of the business. She told the young dancers that all dancers should be smart dancers and a good education is most important. “A dancers career can be short and you need something to fall back on to pay the bills!” she stated. We are so proud of Miss Blair and thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to talk to us. Miss Blair is off again this week for another 6 months on the sea!! We wish her well and welcome her back anytime!
