How to get the exercise and socialization you need while being a great parent

Whether you are a working parent or a stay at home mom, it can be a struggle sometimes to spend quality time with your baby while balancing both taking care of yourself and your child’s needs.

If you are like most parents, your wants and needs probably come second to those of your child. However, just because you are a mom, your own needs shouldn’t fall by the wayside completely.

In order to be the best mom you can be, you have to take care of yourself first so you are able to take care of your kids in the best and most effective way possible. This means feeling good about yourself as well as spending quality time with your children.

For new moms, finding time to do anything can be a challenge and add that to the baby weight you are most surely eager to shed, it can be an exhausting and challenging time, to say the least. But there is a way to start working on getting your pre-baby body back while spending time with your baby – at Mommy and Me Bootcamp.

This class combines the effective exercises of bootcamp while allowing you to bring your baby along for the workout. This way, you are doing something for yourself and being social without leaving your baby behind or finding a babysitter.

If you are not keen on heading out to a busy gym, look for a class in a smaller studio space, for example, within a local dance studio. Often times, studios want to utilize the rooms they have when they are not being used for dance classes, so they will provide and rent space for fitness classes and other activities.

New moms looking to get back in shape are also enrolling in Zumba Fitness classes. This Latin-inspired, dance fitness program, dubbed “the Latin, calorie burning fitness party,” is a fun and effective way to get in shape. Again, you don’t need to go to a gym to take this class as it is also offered at some local dance studios.

What’s great about this is that you can schedule your workouts to coincide with your child’s dance classes. This way while they are learning and having fun, you can be exercising and having some fun of your own.

If you are a mom who wants to enjoy the benefits of healthy exercise in a way that you can involve your kids as well, contact The Dance Shoppe in Milton. They offer both Mommy and Me Bootcamp and Zumba fitness classes at their studio. Call them today at 905-878-1488 or visit them at to learn more.
